Pursuant to Standing Rule 10, Hon. Mr. Duffie rose on a Point of Privilege, to correct information contained in the Thursday, February 13, 1997 edition of The Daily Gleaner.

Hon. Mr. Duffie laid upon the Table of the House the newspaper article of which he had referred earlier.

Hon. Mrs. Trenholme laid upon the Table of the House a declaration containing signatures of 2869 men entitled Men Signing on Against Violence Against Women.

Notices of Motions

Mr. Volpé gave Notice of Motion 106 that on Thursday, February 20, 1997, he would move the following resolution, seconded by Mr. Robichaud:

WHEREAS the federal government has adopted major changes to the Employment Insurance system, which will have a definite impact on the New Brunswick labour market;

WHEREAS the number of people looking for employment and the number of people giving up their search for employment are constantly on the increase in New Brunswick;

WHEREAS the job creation strategy of this government has proved ineffective in creating stable, well-paid jobs for residents of the province;

BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly recommend to the government to undertake a complete overhaul of its job creation strategy and programs in order to tailor them to new labour market realities and new economic realities.

Government Motions re Business of House

Hon. Mr. Frenette announced that the House would proceed with regular business and that it was the intention of the government that the House resolve itself into a Committee of the Whole to consider legislation; namely, Bills 44, 62, 70, and 71; and that Bill 49 would not be considered at today's sitting.

AMENDMENT [section 3]

In subsection 3(6) of the French version, strike out "exécuté" and substitute "exécutée".
