An Act to Amend the Arts Development Trust Fund Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1Section 2 of the Arts Development Trust Fund Act, chapter A-13.1 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1990, is amended by striking out "and arts organizations" and substituting ", arts organizations and the New Brunswick Arts Board-Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick".

2Section 3 of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted:

3For the purposes of section 2, the Minister of Municipalities, Culture and Housing may,

(a)after consultation with the New Brunswick Arts Board-Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick or a jury established by the Board, provide grants to individuals and arts organizations, and

(b)provide grants to the New Brunswick Arts Board-Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick.

3(1)Section 3 of the New Brunswick Arts Board Act, chapter N-3.1 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1990, is amended by adding after paragraph (a) the following:

(a.1)to receive gifts of real and personal property, including grants of money to promote artistic creation and excellence in the Arts,

3(2)The Act is amended by adding after section 6 the following:

6.1The Board may employ persons to enable it to carry out the purposes set out in section 3.

4This Act or any provision of it comes into force on a day or days to be fixed by proclamation.

EXPLANATORY NOTES

Section 1

The existing provision is as follows:

2The assets of the Arts Development Trust Fund shall be used to provide grants to individuals and arts organizations so as to promote artistic creation and excellence in the Arts.

3For the purposes of section 2, the Minister of Municipalities, Culture and Housing may, after consultation with the New Brunswick Arts Board-Conseil des Arts du Nouveau-Brunswick or a jury established by the Board, provide grants to individuals and arts organizations.

Section 3

(1)This amendment provides that one of the purposes of the Board is to receive gifts of real and personal property, including grants of money to promote artistic creation and excellence in the Arts.

(2)This amendment provides that the Board may employ persons to enable it to carry out the purposes set out in section 3.
