Government Motions re Business of House

Hon. Mr. Byrne announced that following second reading and the Budget Debate, it was the intention of the government that the House resolve itself into a Committee of the Whole House to consider Bills 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 14.

Second Reading

The following Bills were read the second time and ordered referred to the Committee of the Whole House:

Bill 15, An Act to Amend the Tobacco Sales Act.

Bill 16, An Act to Amend the Marriage Act.

Bill 17, An Act to Amend The Residential Tenancies Act.

Budget Debate

The Order of the Day for resuming the adjourned debate on the motion (Motion 59),

That this House approves in general the budgetary policy of the government, having been read,

The debate was resumed.

And after some time, it was agreed by unanimous consent to continue sitting beyond 12.30 o'clock p.m. to allow Hon. Mr. MacIntyre to conclude his remarks.

And after some further time, Mr. Speaker declared it to be 12.30 and left the Chair to resume again at 2 o'clock p.m.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

And the debate on the motion (Motion 59) continuing, it was on motion of Hon. Mr. Byrne, on behalf of Hon. Mr. C. Thériault, adjourned over.

Government Motions re Business of House

On motion of Hon. Mr. Byrne, seconded by Mr. Allaby,

RESOLVED, that when the House adjourns at the end of this sitting day, it stand adjourned until tomorrow at 11 o'clock a.m.

Committee of the Whole

The House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole with Mr. Flynn in the chair.

And after some further time, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair and Mr. Flynn, the Chairman, after requesting Mr. Speaker revert to the Order of Presentations of Committee Reports, reported:

That the Committee had directed him to report the following Bills as agreed to:

Bill 5, An Act to Amend the Executive Council Act.

Bill 6, An Act to Amend the Police Act.

Bill 7, An Act to Amend the Regulations Act.

Bill 8, An Act to Authorize the Conveyance of Land from The Canadian Red Cross Society / La Société Canadienne de la Croix-Rouge to The Canadian Blood Services / Société canadienne du sang.

Bill 9, An Act to Amend the Beverage Containers Act.

Bill 10, Plant Health Act.

Bill 12, An Act to Amend the Motor Vehicle Act.

Bill 14, An Act to Amend the Small Claims Act.

And the Committee asked leave to make a further report.

Pursuant to Standing Rule 78.1, Mr. Speaker put the question on the motion deemed to be before the House, that the report be concurred in, and it was resolved in the affirmative.

And then, 5.06 o'clock p.m., the House adjourned.
