An Act to Amend the Human Rights Act

 

 

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1 The preamble of the Human Rights Act, chapter H-11 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended in the first paragraph by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition".

2 Section 3 of the Act is amended

(a) in the portion following paragraph (1)(b) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(b) in subsection (2) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

 

(c) in the portion following paragraph (3)(c) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(d) in the portion following paragraph (4)(c) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(e) in subsection (5) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition".

 

3 Section 4 of the Act is amended

(a) in the portion following paragraph (1)(b) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(b) in the portion following paragraph (2)(b) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(c) in subsection (3) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(d) in subsection (4) by adding "or social condition" after "sex".

 

4 Section 5 of the Act is amended

(a) in the portion following paragraph (1)(b) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(b) in subsection (2) by adding "or social condition" after "sex".

 

5 Section 6 of the Act is amended

(a) in the portion following paragraph (1)(b) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(b) in subsection (3) by adding "or social condition" after "sex".

 

6 Subsection 7(1) of the Act is amended by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition".

 

7 Section 12 of the Act is amended

(a) in paragraph (a) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition";

 

(b) in paragraph (c) by striking out "or sex" and substituting ", sex or social condition".
