Daily Sitting 50

Friday, May 19, 2000.

10 o'clock a.m.

Prayers.

Due to the unavoidable absence of Mr. Speaker, Mr. Ashfield, the Deputy Speaker, took the chair as Acting Speaker.


Ms. Weir gave Notice of Motion 149 that on Thursday, May 25, 2000, she would move the following resolution, seconded by Mr. Richard:

That an address be presented to Her Honour the Lieutenant-Governor, praying that she cause to be laid upon the table of the House copies of all documents, correspondence (including electronic), grant or funding approvals, reports, in the possession of the Minister of Business New Brunswick, or Employment and Training related to funding support for Canadian National operations in New Brunswick.


Hon. Mr. Green announced that it was the government's intention that the House resolve itself into a Committee of Supply to consider the estimates of the Premier's Council on the Status of Disabled Persons, the Youth Council of New Brunswick, and the Premier's Health Quality Council.


The House, according to order, resolved itself into a Committee of Supply with Mr. Carr in the chair.

At 11.15 o'clock a.m. the Chairman declared a recess and left the chair.

11.33 a.m.

The Committee resumed with Mr. Carr in the chair.

And after some time, it was agreed by unanimous consent to continue sitting through the noon recess.

And after some time, Mr. Cosman took the chair.

At 12.50 o'clock p.m., Mr. Cosman, the Acting Chairman, declared a recess.

1.05 o'clock p.m.

The Committee resumed with Mr. Cosman in the chair.

And after some time, Mr. Ashfield, the Acting Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Cosman, the Chairman, after requesting that Mr. Speaker revert to Presentations of Committee Reports, reported that the Committee had made some progress in the consideration of the matters referred to them, had passed several items and asked leave to sit again.

Pursuant to Standing Rule 78.1, Mr. Speaker put the question on the motion deemed to be before the House, that the report be concurred in, and it was resolved in the affirmative .

The following are the items reported:

MAIN ESTIMATES 2000-2001

ORDINARY ACCOUNT

GENERAL GOVERNMENT

Voted, Supply in the following amounts to defray the expenses of the following programs:

Premier's Health Quality Council 728,000

Premier's Council on the Status of Disabled Persons 227,000

Youth Council of New Brunswick 117,000

The said items were concurred in by the House.


And then, 2.15 o'clock p.m., the House adjourned.
