10 o'clock a.m.
Due to the unavoidable absence of Mr. Speaker, Mr. Ashfield, the Deputy Speaker, took the chair as Acting Speaker.
Mr. Cyr laid upon the table of the House a petition signed by residents of Restigouche West requesting improvements to the road in their community known as the chemin Petit-Ouest. (Petition 15)
Hon. Mr. E. Robichaud announced that it was the intention of government that the House resolve itself into a Committee of Supply to consider the estimates of the Department of Natural Resources and Energy.
The Order being read for second reading of Bill 40, An Act to Amend the Trustees Act, a debate arose thereon.
And the debate being ended, and the question being put that Bill 40 be now read a second time, it was resolved in the affirmative.
Accordingly, Bill 40, An Act to Amend the Trustees Act, was read the second time and ordered referred to the Committee of the Whole House.
The following Bills were read the second time and ordered referred to the Committee of the Whole House:
Bill 41, An Act to Amend the Interprovincial Subpoena Act.
The House, according to order, resolved itself into a Committee of Supply with Mr. Bernard in the chair.
At 11.12 o'clock a.m., the Chairman declared a recess.
11.29 o'clock a.m.
The Committee resumed with Mr. Bernard in the chair.
And after some time, Mr. Carr took the chair as Acting Chairman.
And after some further time spent in Committee of Supply, Mr. Ashfield, the Acting Speaker, took the chair and Mr. Carr, the Acting Chairman, after requesting the Acting Speaker to revert to Presentations of Committee Reports, reported that the Committee had made some progress in the consideration of the matters referred to them, had passed several items and asked leave to sit again.
Pursuant to Standing Rule 78.1, the Acting Speaker, put the question on the motion deemed to be before the House, that the report be concurred in, and it was resolved in the affirmative .

DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENERGY
Resolved, That there be granted to Her Majesty a sum not exceeding $84,814,000 to defray the expenses of the Ordinary Account program allocations of the Department of Natural Resources and Energy for the fiscal year ending the 31st of March, 2001.

The said items were concurred in by the House.
