Prayers.

Mr. Laforest, Member for Grand Falls Region, laid upon the House a petition signed by citizens of the Grand Falls area who urge that the government reinstate their qualified ambulance service immediately. (Petition 11)

Hon. Mr. Green welcomed to the House Mr. Yvon Poitras, Progressive Conservative Member of the Legislative Assembly for Restigouche West (1982-1987) and a former Minister of Municipal Affairs.

During Oral Question Period, Mr. Speaker declared a recess at 11.05 o'clock a.m., in relation to a technical problem caused by a power outage.

11.22 o'clock a.m.

Mr. Speaker resumed the chair.

Hon. Mr. Green announced that following second reading of Bills, the House would resolve itself into a Committee of Supply to continue consideration of the estimates of the Department of Family and Community Services.

The Order being read for second reading of Bill 37, An Act to Amend the Endangered Species Act, a debate arose thereon.

And the debate being ended, and the question being put that Bill 37 be now read a second time, it was resolved in the affirmative.

Accordingly, Bill 37, An Act to Amend the Endangered Species Act, was read a second time and ordered referred to the Committee of the Whole House.

The Order being read for second reading of Bill 38, An Act to Amend the Financial Administration Act, a debate arose thereon.

And the debate being ended, and the question being put that Bill 37 be now read a second time, it was resolved in the affirmative.

Accordingly, Bill 38, An Act to Amend the Financial Administration Act, was read a second time and ordered referred to the Committee of the Whole House.

The following Bill was read a second time and ordered referred to the Committee of the Whole House:

Bill 39, An Act to Amend the Mining Act.

The Order being read for second reading of Bill 40, An Act to Amend the Metallic Minerals Tax Act, a debate arose thereon.

And the debate being ended, and the question being put that Bill 40 be now read a second time, it was resolved in the affirmative.

Accordingly, Bill 40, An Act to Amend the Metallic Minerals Tax Act, was read a second time and ordered referred to the Committee of the Whole House.

The House, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee of Supply with Mr. Bernard in the chair.

The Chairman declared it to be 12.30 o'clock p.m., and left the chair to resume again at 2 o'clock p.m.

2 o'clock p.m.

The Committee resumed with Mr. Bernard in the chair.

And after some time, Mr. Ashfield, took the chair.

And after some further time, Mr. Bernard took the chair.

And after some further time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair and Mr. Bernard, the Chairman, after requesting that Mr. Speaker revert to Presentations of Committee Reports, reported that the Committee had had under consideration the matters referred to them, had made some progress therein, and asked leave to sit again.

Pursuant to Standing Rule 78.1, Mr. Speaker then put the question on the motion deemed to be before the House, that the report be concurred in, and it was resolved in the affirmative.

And then, 6 o'clock p.m., the House adjourned.
