10 o'clock a.m.
Hon. Mr. E. Robichaud, Deputy Government House Leader, announced that it was the intention of government that the House resolve itself into a Committee of Supply to consider the estimates of the Department of Education, that the Committee of Supply continue through the lunch hour, save for a fifteen minute break at 12.30 o'clock p.m., and continue until 4 o'clock p.m. at which time the House would adjourn.
The House agreed by unanimous consent to vary the sitting hours accordingly.
The House, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee of Supply with Mr. Ashfield in the chair.
The Chairman declared a brief recess at 11 o'clock a.m.
The Committee resumed.
And after some time, the Chairman declared it to be 12.30 o'clock p.m., and left the chair to resume again at 12.45 o'clock p.m.
12.50 o'clock p.m.
The Committee resumed with Mr. Ashfield in the chair.
And after some time, Mr. Jordan took the chair as Acting Chairman.
And at 4 o'clock p.m., as agreed to, Mr. Jordan, the Acting Chairman, interrupted proceedings and advised that the time allotted for Committee of Supply had expired.
Mr. Speaker resumed the chair and Mr. Jordan, the Acting Chairman, after requesting that Mr. Speaker revert to Presentations of Committee Reports, reported that the Committee had had under consideration the matters referred to them, had made some progress therein, and asked leave to sit again.
Pursuant to Standing Rule 78.1, Mr. Speaker then put the question on the motion deemed to be before the House, that the report be concurred in, and it was resolved in the affirmative.
And then, 4 o'clock p.m., the House adjourned.
