Office of the Conflict of Interest Commissioner

The Office of the Conflict of Interest Commissioner is responsible for administering the Members' Conflict of Interest Act which sets out acceptable standards of conduct for all Members of the Legislative Assembly and of the Executive Council.

As of July 1, 2008, the Office of the Conflict of Interest Commissioner is also responsible for administering the Public Interest Disclosure Act, commonly referred to as the “Whistleblower” legislation.

The purpose of the Public Interest Disclosure Act is to facilitate the disclosure and investigation of significant and serious matters in or relating to the public service of the provincial government, that are potentially unlawful, dangerous to the public or injurious to the public interest, and to protect persons who make those disclosures.
