Items & Damages NOT Covered Under the DFA

  • Please refer to the listing below when completing the Schedule of Loss (Form C).
  • The list is not all inclusive and is meant as a guide.
  • Please note items and damages in the appropriate columns on Form C. If you know the year purchased and cost, provide this information in the correct columns.
  • The adjuster will review the listing and determine values for damages and items eligible under the guidelines of the program. Any questions or concerns can be addressed at time of site visit.

Items Damages NOT covered under the DFA Program

 Homeowner/Personal Claims

 Small Business/Farms/Fisheries Claims

 Any damages caused by a water damage extension  (sewer backup) will not be covered under this program  (insurance available for this)  Any damages caused by a water damage extension  (sewer backup) will not be covered under this  program
 Books: unless required for a registered attendance at an  educational facility  Damages covered by insurance or law
 Driveway repair: gravel only  Livestock Losses
 Fencing: only if it is to contain or protect livestock or crops  Lost wages, Loss of profit, Loss of opportunity
 Landscape repairs, erosion, or retaining walls unless it is  a public safety issue  Any cost of restoration not considered essential to  business
 Lawn mowers, recreational vehicles or vessels  Vehicles: repairs only to farm/forestry equipment of  an uninsurable nature
 Luxury items: fur coats, stereo equipment, sporting  goods and like items  Out buildings that are not part of a business or farm  operation
 Non perishable food items  Landscape repairs, erosion, unless it is a public  safety issue
 Patio furniture/pools
 Sheds or baby barns
 Depreciation value will apply against stock,  equipment, etc.
 Private roads: unless deemed a public road by
 government  
 Tools (hand or power) unless used in your  business
 Recreational property: camps, cottages or service clubs  Any improvements that were completed after the  disaster
 Seasonal decorations: Interior or Exterior  HST will be removed from all items
 Stored items, non-essential and extras not being used on  a day to day basis  
 Tools (hand or power) unless used for livelihood
