FREDERICTON (CNB) - River Watch 2008 and the Department of Public Safety's New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization are issuing a flood watch, effective today, Monday, April 21, 2008.

Persons living or working along streams, tributaries and rivers in the lower St. John Valley are asked to be on alert for water level increases that may reach or exceed the flood stage.

The warm temperatures throughout the province are forecast to continue through this week, increasing snow melt which will combine with light rain. As a result, water flows and levels will continue to increase significantly for the next few days.

The next report will be issued on Tuesday, April 22, 2008.
