Workplace Policies

In this first module you will learn about the Respectful Workplace Policy, review the GNB Values, and learn about the importance of respect in all GNB workplaces.
In this second module you will learn about the harassment complaint process, including informal and formal complaint and resolution procedures.
All employees who are not in a supervisory role are required to complete the Complaint Process - Module 2 for Employees.
All supervisors/ managers are required to complete the Complaint Process - Module 2 for Managers, where complaint processes are reviewed from the perspective of supporting the employee.

In this module you will learn about the Prevention of Workplace Violence Policy, how to identify sources and types of violence, how to keep safe and how to respond to and report incidents of violence in the workplace.
All employees are required to complete the Prevention of Workplace Violence, All-Staff Module.
Supervisors and Managers have specific responsibilities under the Prevention of Workplace Violence Policy. In this additional module Supervisors and managers will learn abut the risk assessment process, how to develop a code of practice, obligations around violent incident reporting and training of staff on the code of practice(s) developed for your workplace.
All supervisors/ managers are required to complete the Prevention of Workplace Violence for Managers Module.
In this module, you will learn about the policy that is designed to address substance use in the workplace by an employee that may negatively impact the safety, competency or efficiency of that employee, other employees, or put members of the public at risk of harm in any way.
All employees are required to complete the Substance Use in the Workplace Module.
In this module, you will learn about the Language of Service Policy, which ensures that services of equal quality is offered and provided in both official languages by provincial departments, agencies, health sector, crown corporations, institutions and third party enterprises.
All employees are required to complete the four (4) Official Languages - Language of Service Modules.
In this module, you will learn about the Language of Work Policy, which promotes the use of both official languages by employees in provincial departments, institutions and agencies.
All employees are required to complete the four (4) Official Languages - Language of Work Modules.
Human Resource and Safety Matters
WHMIS training is a requirement of your employment with GNB. The following five modules are the first part of your training. You supervisor will ensure you receive further training specific to your worksite.
These three e-learning modules, which make up the Refresher Orientation, will help employees gain further understanding of DTI safe work procedures and codes of practice as well as how to identify and control workplace hazards. Incident reporting and investigation will also be covered among other safety topics. This refresher orientation applies to
- employees 25 and over returning to an original position after a leave of six months or more,
- office workers whose job does not include work outside of the office (this is your H & S Orientation),
- employees who will do field work, but have to wait to until a New Hire Orientation is scheduled (field employees must register for the next New Hire Orientation with their WHS consultant), and
- all employees annually.
If you are new to DTI, please watch the Jimmy Martin Memorial Video before taking any of the e-learning modules. We feel this video sets the stage for why your health and safety must be priority.
The Workplace Incident Notifications and Investigations module covers topics such as incident notification, incident investigation, as well as Form 67 completion.
All supervisors / managers are required to complete this module.
The Delivering Effective Safety Communications module outlines how to provide safety talks and safety huddles to staff in their workplaces on a regular basis.
All supervisors / managers are required to complete this module.
The Government of New Brunswick's staffing process is based on competencies and on the Behavioural Event Interview. This module focuses on these two elements, and is meant to complement a more comprehensive training on the staffing process.
