Aerial Monitoring of Potato Infesting Aphids in New Brunswick

Lynn Moore1

Abstract: Cumulative catches of winged green peach, buckthorn and "other" aphids in yellow pan traps were generally low during the 1996 season. Catches of common potato aphids increased dramatically during the last two weeks of August. Threshold levels of five green peach aphids per pan were reached at a limited number of locations during the first, second and third weeks of August. "Other" aphid catches were also lower than average but remained fairly constant during the season. These results are discussed with those of previous years in relation to average leafroll and mosaic results from the Florida post harvest test up to and including 1996.
