Abstract: A study was conducted at Drummond, Victoria county New Brunswick, in 1997, to determine the effect of supplemental irrigation and the positioning of the drip tape on the yield and quality of potato tubers, c.v. Shepody. Both total and marketable yields were respectively higher by 31.2 and 42.1 Cwt/Acre when soil moisture was maintained between 35 % allowable depletion and field capacity. However the effect was significant only for the marketable yield. The proportion of tubers having hollow heart was higher and the proportion of tubers having scab was lower under supplemental irrigation. The positioning of the drip tape had no effect on the yield and quality of potato tubers.
