SHIPPAGAN (CNB) - The public is invited to the New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre's (NBAMC) Fisheries and Aquaculture Day on Friday, July 17, honouring the fishing and aquaculture industries.
The event is held as part of the New Brunswick Fisheries and Aquaculture Festival, and this year's theme is "From the lab to your plate." Family activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the centre.
The Professional Shellfish Growers Association of New Brunswick will help organize and run the event, and several aquaculture-related activities will take place under a tent set up on the NBAMC site. Local producers will give free samples of their products to visitors, after which visitors may have a full seafood meal in the Pavillon aquatique restaurant, next to the NBAMC.
The NBAMC will also offer activities for children, including crafts and face painting. Acadian musicians will perform from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Members of the public are invited to join staff of the NBAMC, which houses employees of the Department of Agriculture and Aquaculture and the Coastal Zones Research Institute, to meet representatives of the New Brunswick shellfish industry.
