FREDERICTON (CNB) - Lt.-Gov. Herménégilde Chiasson invites one and all to show their provincial spirit on Monday, Aug. 6 on the grounds of his official residence in Fredericton. Old Government House is once again the site of 'The Lieutenant Governor's Backyard Bash' for New Brunswick Day.

"This historic residence is 'the peoples' house', and there is no better location to celebrate our provincial holiday," Chiasson said. "I invite all New Brunswickers and their guests to the beautiful grounds for a free, day-long concert featuring some of New Brunswick's best performers, ice cream and lemonade while it lasts, plus a display of military equipment from our neighbours at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown."

The Armed Forces display opens to the public at 12 noon. The free concert begins at 2 p.m. Speeches and the presentation of the NB Day Merit Awards will happen at 6 p.m. Weather permitting, the concert runs all afternoon and evening, finishing at 10 p.m.

"We have so much to be thankful for in New Brunswick, and so much to be proud of as well," Chiasson said. "Last year, thousands accepted my invitation, and I can only hope that New Brunswickers young and old come to celebrate this important day once again with my wife Marcia and me."
