How to join our team

GNB is committed to attracting top talent. Our hiring process ensures fairness, transparency, and recruits individuals dedicated to serving the people of New Brunswick.

How do I apply for an open competition?

The best method to apply for competitions is online via the e-Recruitment portal. To see open competitions, please visit Open Competitions (gnb.ca)

When applying online, please take note of the following:

  • At the bottom of the job competition, “Apply Online” is an active link which allows you to apply directly to the competition.
  • The link “Apply Online” will require you to login to your account in e-Recruitment. If you do not have an account, you will be directed to create one.
  • For help using e-Recruitment, see the users' guide.
  • Online application must be received by the closing date indicated on the job competition.
  • Once your application has been successfully submitted, you will receive an email confirmation provided you entered a valid email address in your online resumé.

What happens after I apply to a competition?

After the competition closes, we'll review all applications and select those who meet the qualifications for further consideration. Candidates who meet the required qualifications for the position will be contacted by the department and advance to the next stage of selection.

Departments will schedule interviews and/or testing for selected candidates. After interviews/testing is completed, the successful candidate will be notified.

The status of ongoing competitions can be viewed on the GNB website.

The feedback process

Important Note: The legislated feedback and complaint process, as outlined in the Civil Service Act, applies exclusively to departments listed in Regulation 93-137, Section 3.

You can ask the hiring department for feedback. This helps you understand why and see things from their side. You have 30 days after getting notified about an appointment to ask for feedback. It's a chance to talk openly and understand how to better prepare for a future interview.

Status of my application

The status of ongoing competitions can be viewed on the GNB website.

  1. Competition Closed (no longer accepting applications)
  2. Interviews in Progress
  3. Position Filled

These updates help job applicants stay informed with the latest news.

Sometimes, a department might cancel a competition. In that case, the status will change to: Competition Cancelled

Everyone who passed the initial screening (except those who withdrew) will be told about the cancellation.
