  • Application purpose: The WAWA Reference Map is intended for planning purposes only. The information is subject to change and the mapping of the wetlands, watercourses, and water bodies is only approximate.
  • Application description: The WAWA Reference Map is intended for planning purposes only. There are three categories of water features:
    • Provincially Significant Wetlands (PSW): Wetlands having provincial, national or international importance (i.e. species at risk, coastal wetlands, unique forested wetlands, some floodplain wetlands).
    • Wetlands: Various wetland types - Freshwater marsh, aquatic bed, bog, fen, forested and shrub.
    • Watercourses and water bodies (e.g. rivers, lakes, and streams).
  • Application functionality:
    • Display a disclaimer
    • Search for a particular property, address, or location
    • Display wetland data and control transparency of wetland polygons
  • Data requirements:
    • Protected wetland polygons
    • Water (watercourses & water bodies)
    • Property maps
    • Civic Addresses
    • GeoNB base maps
  • Data update frequency: Wetlands, watercourses, and water bodies should be updated on a yearly cycle.
