International Women’s Day student contest

Celebrating students’ stories of inspiring women and their visions for gender equality in New Brunswick.

Overview

March 8, is International Women’s Day (IWD)!

To celebrate, Women’s Equality invites all New Brunswick students to take part in the IWD Student Contest.

Please share:

  • stories of women who inspire you (e.g. family, friends, community members, and role models) and/or
  • your vision for gender equality in New Brunswick

The top five submissions will be showcased at the International Women's Day event on March 6, 2026.

The school with the most entries will receive the “School of the Year” certificate.

Who can participate?

  • all students in all grades (K-12)  across New Brunswick
  • you can submit a video, poster or story

Submission guidelines

Entries can be submitted individually or in pairs, with a maximum of two students per entry.

Video

  • Video submissions should either introduce viewers to the woman being celebrated, explaining who she is and how she has inspired the student, or showcase the student’s vision for gender equality in New Brunswick.
  • Video submissions must be accompanied by the student’s name, grade and name of school.
  • Maximum two minutes.

Poster

  • Posters may be submitted digitally or in hard copy at the address below.
  • Get creative to visually represent the woman you’re celebrating (if possible) or your vision for gender equality.
  • Poster submissions should either introduce viewers to the woman being celebrated, explaining who she is and how she has inspired the student, or showcase the student’s vision for gender equality in New Brunswick.
  • Poster submissions must be accompanied by student’s name, grade and name of school.

Story

  • Stories may be submitted digitally or in hard copy at the address below. 
  • Story submissions should include an image of the woman the student is celebrating (if possible/applicable). 
  • Story submissions should either introduce viewers to the woman being celebrated, explaining who she is and how she has inspired the student, or showcase the student’s vision for gender equality in New Brunswick. 
  • Maximum 500 words. 
  • Story submissions must be accompanied by student’s name, grade and name of school.

Consent

By submitting your entry for International Women’s Day Contest for New Brunswick Students, you consent that the Government of New Brunswick’s - Women’s Equality may use, publish, exhibit, distribute and reproduce your submission, your name and the name of your school in online or print media, and at associated public events.
