Attendance equals success
When you show up every day, school just works better. Classes make more sense, it’s easier to make friends and more opportunities come your way.
School gives you chances you can’t find anywhere else. When you’re here, you can:
- pick up the knowledge and skills that set you up for your future
- be part of a community where you find friends who share your interests
- connect with adults who actually want to help you reach your goals
Students with strong attendance usually earn higher grades and have more choices after graduation—whether that’s college, trades or other training. And if you go straight into the workforce, showing up on time and being dependable are the same habits that make you a great teammate on the job.
Absences add up more than you think
Every day missed has an impact on learning.
Even missing a couple of days each month adds up quickly and makes it harder to keep up in class.
The more you miss, the more stressful school feels and catching up gets tougher. Over time, that means less learning and fewer opportunities.
Everyone needs help sometimes
Students sometimes have trouble attending school because of:
- anxiety, stress or mental health concerns
- difficulties learning new material in class
- problems at home or school
If something in your life is becoming a barrier to good attendance, people at the school can help.
You are not alone. Get help early. Don’t let small problems develop into big ones. If you’re having trouble attending school for any reason, speak to your teacher or school counsellor.
