Agriculture Appeal Board
Hears appeals of land registered for agricultural use by the Minister. The board also hears appeals on decisions made by the Registrar of the Farm Land Identification Program on the deferral of provincial property taxes on eligible farm lands and outbuildings to encourage the preservation of real property for agricultural use and decisions made by the Registrar of Livestock Operations to issue, renew or amend a livestock operations license.

Administers agricultural insurance matters by hearing disputes from agricultural producers relating to agricultural insurance matters, conduct surveys and research programs relating to agricultural insurance, etc.

Supervises ten agricultural commodity boards and agencies. Facilitates the Province’s participation in provincial and national orderly marketing systems including investigating, arbitrating, adjudicating upon, adjusting or otherwise settling any dispute involving producers, agencies, boards, distributors or transporters of farm products.
New Brunswick Grain Commission
Establishes standards to regulate the production and marketing of grain. The Commission has the power to investigate, arbitrate, adjudicate upon, adjust or otherwise settle any dispute between producers, processors, dealers, distributors or transporters of grain.
Potato Disease Eradication Advisory Council
Advises the Minister on any question submitted to it with respect to the eradication of potato diseases in the Province.

Manages the handling of a designated material to ensures an industry’s manufacture, storage, collection, transportation, recycling, disposal or other handling of a designated material is done in accordance with a stewardship plan approved by the Board. Currently the Board manages scrap tires, waste paint, used oil and used glycol under the Regulation.

Cannabis Advisory Committee
Advises the Minister on matters relating to the use of the assets of the Cannabis Education and Awareness Fund. The fund shall be used to support the development and implementation of education and awareness programs, policies, and research projects related cannabis including its responsible use, prevention of abuse, and strategies for the reduction of the adverse health effects; as well as promotion of corporate social responsibility in the distribution and sale of cannabis.

Mental Health Review Boards — North and South
Reviews the status of an involuntary patient; the ability of an involuntary patient to manage their estate; the patient's access to information concerning their treatment and the accessibility to their chart; the transfer to another jurisdiction; the granting or authorization of certificates of detention; sending out an order to administer a treatment; and the patient's competence or their substitute to give their consent.
Mental Health Services Advisory Committee
Advises the Minister on the need, supply and delivery of mental health services; issues respecting mental health and mental health services referred to the Committee by the Minister or initiated by the Committee; and matters related to the development and improvement of community-based support systems for persons suffering from mental disorders.
Mental Health Tribunals — North and South
Authorizes the admission and treatment of involuntary patients according to the Mental Health Act. Each tribunal is composed of a lawyer and two members of the public.

Oversees the regulation of the profession.
New Brunswick Health and Senior Care Council — Board of Directors
Makes recommendations to the Minister to promote and improve health service quality; to develop and implement mechanisms to engage citizens, to measure, monitor and assess population health and health services quality; to identify effective practices for the improvement of health service quality; to evaluate strategies designed to improve health service quality; to assess citizen satisfaction with health services and quality; and to investigate matters respecting healthcare referred to it by the Minister with recommendations.

Makes recommendations and advises the Minister on the classes of drugs to be considered for designation as monitored drugs; policy and other matters related to the Program; possible amendments to the Act or the regulations to further the purposes of the Program; issues arising from the collection and reporting of information under the Program; and any other matter established by regulation.
Professional Review Committee
Regulates and administers 5.5(1) of the Act which provides for: the provincial authority may refer to the Professional Review Committee for review, patterns of billing of medical practitioners and oral and maxillofacial surgeons under the medical services plan in order to identify, in respect of a medical practitioner or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Examines qualified candidates for any class of power engineers licence; provides the examination to be given a candidate for any class of power engineers licence; and establishes the degree of competency that a candidate shall display to successfully pass such examination.

Addresses complaints of misconduct alleged against Small Claims Court adjudicators. The panel is the roster of names from which a public representative is chosen each time a Complaints Committee is required.

Regulates standards and administers examination of candidates seeking licensing and renewal of licensing to scale primary forest products in NB, as well as managing licensed scalers’ performance issues.

Provides scientific input, advice, and expertise on any matter relating to the biological assessment of Species at Risk in New Brunswick.
Crown Lands and Forests Advisory Board
Advises the Minister on matters relating to the management of Crown Lands and Forests, the settlement of disputes with respect to the management of Crown Lands, and other matters submitted by the Minister.

Regulates the electricity, natural gas, pipeline, motor carrier industries and sets maximum gasoline prices for the province as an independent Crown agency.

New Brunswick Forest Products Commission
Oversees the marketing relationships involving forest industries (pulp mills and sawmills); forest products marketing boards (private woodlot owners and producers) and the provincial government. An independent Commission composed of seven members who report directly to the Minister.

Governs the Corporation by guiding the strategic direction, evaluating the performance of the Chief Executive Officer, and approving and monitoring the business plan, operational plan and financial results. Administers the business affairs on a commercial basis, taking into consideration government policy, and ensuring the Corporation is committed to a high level of accountability and transparency. NB Power is responsible for providing New Brunswickers with a safe, reliable, cost-effective, environmentally responsible supply of energy at competitive rates.

Provides advice and makes recommendations to the Minister on matters relating to the conservation, protection or enhancement of fish and wildlife populations or their habitats. It recommends projects to the Minister for payments out of the Wildlife Trust Fund.

The Corporation ensures the continued partnership of the citizens of New Brunswick in the development, adoption, implementation and evaluation of the Economic and Social Inclusion Plan. It has representation from government, the Official opposition, business and non-profit sectors as well as people who have experienced poverty.

Kings Landing Corporation — Board of Directors
Oversees the strategic direction to create, maintain and operate an authentic living history museum as a world-class attraction that will educate and entertain tourists and residents by depicting life in rural New Brunswick during the 19th century.
New Brunswick Arts Board
Facilitates and promotes the creation, production, enjoyment, awareness and understanding of the arts, as well as administers funding programs for professional artists in the province. Works as an arm’s length agency that provides advice to the government on matters relating to the arts.

Regulates combat sport events by: issuing permits for the holding of events; issuing licenses for persons who participate in events; establishing a code of conduct for participants in events; and ensuring the presence of medical staff.
