Overview

Since 1990, the Environmental Trust Fund (ETF) has helped protect natural spaces, raise environmental awareness, and build sustainable communities in New Brunswick. In 2024–2025, it invested more than $9.4 million across 204 projects delivered by non-profit organizations, First Nations and local governments. The fund will remain a strong tool for delivering measurable, community-led environmental action across New Brunswick.

As environmental challenges evolve and public expectations grow, government is modernizing the Environmental Trust Fund's priorities, funding approach and operations to ensure lasting, measurable impact. Your input is essential to this process and can help shape changes to the future of the Environmental Trust Fund.

Current priorities and recent results

The ETF currently funds projects under three priority areas:

  • protecting our environment
  • managing our waste
  • addressing climate change
