FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1252, which represents more than 9,600 workers, have signed a new collective agreement.
The union’s membership includes patient care attendants, tradespeople, food service workers, environmental services workers and administrative support employees working for regional health authorities and Extra-Mural/Ambulance New Brunswick.
“These committed professionals are essential to our health-care system, providing valuable services that improve the health outcomes of many residents in New Brunswick,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister René Legacy. “I want to thank the negotiators who came together to reach an agreement and achieve a fair and well-deserved deal.”
The agreement includes a general wage increase of $5 per hour over four years, retroactive to July 1, 2024. Employees will receive hourly wage increases of $1 in the first year, $1.10 in the second year, $1.30 in the third year and $1.60 in the fourth year.
In addition, there are incentives and premiums to address recognition and retention issues, along with increases to the standby rate and shift premiums.
All collective agreements with the provincial government are available online.
