Tentative agreement reached with CUPE Local 1253

The provincial government has reached a tentative collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1253.

FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government has reached a tentative collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1253.

“Both negotiating teams have worked diligently to reach this point, and I appreciate their commitment,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister René Legacy. “As a government, we value the essential work they perform every day. We are pleased to have reached this tentative agreement, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with the union.”

CUPE Local 1253 represents about 3,300 school bus drivers, maintenance workers, custodians and others working in school districts.

The parties have agreed to withhold details of the agreement until it is ratified.
