DIEPPE (GNB) – Foyer Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur, a 20-bed nursing home in Dieppe, is joining the Nursing Home Without Walls program.
The program aims to address specific needs of the community by offering services to older adults who wish to remain in their own homes. These may include in-person social visits, assistance in accessing government programs and services, and activities designed to strengthen social connections and reduce isolation.
“Giving more seniors in New Brunswick the ability and independence to stay living in their home is the main goal of this initiative,” said Lyne Chantal Boudreau, minister responsible for seniors. “I’m so pleased and grateful that these essential services will be offered to the Dieppe community through our continued partnership with Foyer Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur.”
Services offered through this location will include:
“The Nursing Home Without Walls initiative continues to demonstrate meaningful impact across New Brunswick,” said Social Development Minister Cindy Miles. “This success is the result of the dedication and collaboration of partners, staff and community organizations throughout the province. Ensuring that New Brunswickers have timely access to the care and support they need remains a top priority for our government.”
There are 27 Nursing Home Without Walls sites in the province. This New Brunswick initiative is attracting national attention, with nursing homes across the country expressing interest in adopting a similar approach.
“Seniors deserve to age in a safe and supportive environment,” said Paul Rossignol, executive director of Foyer Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur. “By expanding access to our specialized care services, we are building a more inclusive community where Dieppe seniors can live at home while being able to access any additional help they might require.”
