HAUTES-TERRES (GNB) – A new 60-bed nursing home held its official opening today in Hautes-Terres.
Villa St-Isidore allows seniors on the Acadian Peninsula to get the care they need while remaining near family and friends and being part of their community.
“Ensuring seniors have access to high-quality care in their own communities is more than a priority; it’s a duty,” said Lyne Chantal Boudreau, minister responsible for seniors. “We sincerely appreciate our partners, whose dedication helps make sure our seniors get the care they need and have earned.”
The land was donated by the late Richard Losier, a local businessman and philanthropist. The facility itself was built by a partnership of local businesses and leased to a non-profit, La Villa St. Joseph ltée / Villa St-Isidore Nursing Home Partnership, which operates the home.
The new beds align with commitments made in the 2018-2023 Nursing Home Plan. The government is now analyzing future long-term care needs across the province.
“Our government is committed to making significant strides in strengthening the nursing home sector and addressing the issue of vacant nursing home beds,” said Social Development Minister Cindy Miles. “The opening of Villa St-Isidore brings 60 much-needed beds into our network, providing an important facility for the Acadian Peninsula, thanks to the dedication of the team at Villa St-Isidore and their partners.”
“The opening of Villa St-Isidore marks an important milestone for our community,” said Marc-André Vienneau, the facility’s executive director. “It is the result of a collective effort rooted in solidarity and a shared commitment to better meet the needs of our seniors. We are proud to offer a welcoming, respectful and adapted environment where residents can not only receive quality care, but also continue living life to the fullest surrounded by their loved ones and their culture.”
