BOSTON (GNB) – Premier Susan Holt participated in a meeting of northeastern United States governors and eastern Canadian premiers at the Massachusetts State House in Boston, with the aim of strengthening trade and economic partnership. Representatives from Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont took part in the meeting.
“We have been good neighbours and trade partners for decades, and we continue to treasure our long-standing friendship with our neighbours in the United States,” said Holt. “New Brunswick provides essential energy, tourism and manufacturing to these states. During our meetings today, I stressed the importance of our economic and cultural ties to both our countries, while pitching opportunities to make our partnerships even stronger.”
Holt was joined on this trip by the premiers of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Ontario, as well as Quebec’s minister of energy. Topics of discussion included mutual economic advantages, trade and tariffs, foreign investment, energy and tourism.
