FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1840, which represents more than 80 court stenographers, have signed a new collective agreement.
“We truly value the work of these skilled and hard-working employees,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister René Legacy. “It’s great to see both sides come together with a shared commitment to reach a fair and balanced agreement.”
The agreement includes a general wage increase of $5 per hour over four years, retroactive to Oct. 1, 2021. Employees will receive hourly wage increases of $1 in the first year, $1.10 in the second year, $1.30 in the third year, and $1.60 in the fourth year.
There are also incentives and premiums to address recognition and retention issues, along with increases to the transcription premium. In addition, the vacation entitlement structure has been revised to grant employees greater access to vacation days.
All collective agreements with the provincial government are available online.
