Advance polling begins for provincial byelection

FREDERICTON (GNB) – Advance polling for the provincial byelection in Miramichi West takes place on Saturday, Sept. 27, and Monday, Sept. 29. Polls are open both days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“We encourage electors to bring their voter information cards we sent to them when they come to vote in the advance polls, so that we can provide them with faster service,” said chief electoral officer Kimberly Poffenroth.

Voters also have the option to vote at the returning office on Main Street in Doaktown. It is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition, Elections New Brunswick can arrange, by appointment, to have a special ballot brought to the residence of a voter who is unable to leave their home because of illness or incapacity, and to bring a ballot to that person's caregiver, as well.

“These various voting options offer flexibility to individuals to choose the opportunity to vote that is most convenient for them,” said Poffenroth.

Election day for the Miramichi West byelection is Monday, Oct. 6.
