FREDERICTON (GNB) – An inmate in the custody of the provincial correctional system has died.

Malcolm MacInnis, 59, an inmate at the Dalhousie Regional Correctional Centre, was transported and admitted to the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 31, after being seen by facility medical staff. He died on Thursday.

MacInnis was serving a sentence in custody.

This information is being released in accordance with the department's policy.

Neither foul play nor self-harm is suspected.

The RCMP and Coroner Services have been advised.
