FREDERICTON (GNB) – The names of the mover and seconder for the speech from the throne were announced today.

Luc Robichaud, MLA for Hautes-Terres-Nepisiguit, will move the acceptance of the throne speech during the opening of the second session of the 61st legislature. Natacha Vautour, MLA for Dieppe-Memramcook, will second the motion.

“I feel privileged to play this role in beginning a fresh legislative session,” said Robichaud. “This is an exciting time for our government, as we continue to build on what we have already achieved while also looking forward to the work that still has to be done.”

“Over the past year, we’ve hit the ground running and delivered meaningful results for New Brunswickers,” said Vautour. “I’m proud to second this speech from the throne because it reflects a government that listens, learns and keeps moving forward.”

Robichaud and Vautour were both elected as MLAs in the 2024 provincial election.

Prior to becoming an MLA, Robichaud served as mayor of Paquetville from 2016 to 2022, president of the Forum des maires de la Péninsule acadienne from 2017 to 2018, and as a councillor for the Municipality of Hautes-Terres. Outside of his political career, he has also served as a general manager of the Club plein air de Caraquet and the general manager of the Coopérative de Paquetville.

Before getting into politics, Vautour worked as a language arts teacher for 15 years, then with Brilliant Labs, where she worked to inspire and engage teachers and students from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition, she served as president of the Association pour l’avancement pédagogique des technologies de l’information et de la communication en Atlantique and vice-chair of the Francophone sud school district education council.
