FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement was issued by Premier Susan Holt regarding the Energy and Utilities Board’s decision on the cost-of-carbon adjuster:

"Our priority is, and always will be, delivering real affordability for New Brunswickers.

That is why our government moved to eliminate the cost-of-carbon adjuster: people deserve genuine relief. What was supposed to be a temporary measure when it was brought forward over 3 years ago, has now simply become an interim one.  I am frustrated that our efforts for New Brunswickers have been undone by the EUB’s decision. It is the EUB’s job to ensure the lowest possible price for consumers. The carbon adjustor remains unsupported by evidence and consumers should not be forced to absorb costs the industry cannot prove.

New Brunswickers need fair, transparent pricing at the pump. We will continue pressing for a system based on actual costs. Families are struggling, and they should not be paying a penny more for fuel than necessary.”
