SAINT JOHN (GNB) – A coroner’s inquest into the death of Matthew Brawn will be held Jan. 12-13 at the Saint John courthouse, 10 Peel Plaza.
Brawn died on July 18, 2024, following a workplace accident that took place while erecting wind turbines in the Springdale area of the Kings Rural District.
Regional coroner Danny Mallet and a jury will publicly hear evidence from witnesses to determine facts surrounding the death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.
An inquest is a formal court proceeding that allows for the public presentation of all evidence relating to a death. The New Brunswick Coroner Service is an independent fact-finding agency that may not make any finding of legal responsibility.
The first day of the inquest is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with jury selection.
