FREDERICTON (GNB) – With colder weather approaching, support is available for New Brunswickers experiencing homelessness.

“We know how dangerous these conditions can be for people facing the elements,” said Social Development Minister Cindy Miles. “We want to assure New Brunswickers that there are spaces open for anyone needing warmth and rest. As we work to respond to the varying needs of communities across our province, I want to thank our partners who are committed to making sure help is there when it’s needed most.”

New Brunswick has 19 emergency shelters and warming centres, plus one recuperative care shelter, providing a total of about 600 beds. Most are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; those that are not may remain open around the clock during periods of extreme cold.
