FREDERICTON (GNB) – People are invited to submit nominations for the province's highest honour, the Order of New Brunswick.

“The people of this province are what make it so special for all of us,” said Lt.-Gov. Louise Imbeault. “We are grateful to have such dedicated leaders who strengthen our communities through their actions and help make New Brunswick a better place. I invite everyone to help recognize the outstanding achievements of those leaders in our communities by nominating them for the Order of New Brunswick.”

Any Canadian citizen who is a present or former long-term resident of the province is eligible for nomination.

Nominations close on April 1. New members will be formally invested during a ceremony typically held in the fall at Government House in Fredericton.

“The Order of New Brunswick is our province’s highest honour, recognizing people whose leadership strengthens our communities and makes life better for others,” said Premier Susan Holt. “I encourage New Brunswickers to think about the people who lift others up, bring neighbours together, and help build caring, resilient communities, and to nominate them for this honour.”

Established in 2000, the Order of New Brunswick is designed to celebrate New Brunswickers who have made significant contributions to the economic, cultural or social well-being of the province. Since its inception, more than 200 people have been recognized.

More information on the Order of New Brunswick, including current members and the submission of nominations, is available online.
