FREDERICTON (GNB) – Premier Susan Holt will join Prime Minister Mark Carney in India from Feb. 26 to March 1 as part of Canada’s efforts to strengthen trade, attract investment and deepen partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region.

The mission will include stops in Mumbai and New Delhi.

“India represents significant opportunity for New Brunswick businesses, institutions and workers,” said Holt. “As we look at diversifying our markets in the face of President Trump’s illegal tariffs, we’re perfectly positioned to build on the relationships New Brunswick has in India. Working alongside the prime minister and our federal partners, we can diversify our markets, strengthen long-term relationships and create new opportunities for growth here at home.”

The mission will focus on expanding trade and investment, supporting talent and education partnerships, and reinforcing long-term economic ties between New Brunswick and India. Holt will participate in meetings with business leaders and government officials and will highlight New Brunswick’s strengths in technology, advanced manufacturing, forestry and education partnerships.

India is one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies and an increasingly important partner for New Brunswick. In 2024, New Brunswick exported about $190 million in goods and services to India.

“New Brunswick has what the world wants. We’re focused on opening new markets to fuel good-paying jobs at home,” said Holt. “By building stronger trade and investment pipelines with countries like India, we’re making our province more resilient and ready for long-term growth.”

New Brunswick is also the only Atlantic province with a physical presence in India through Opportunities NB’s in-market office, supporting exporters and investors.
