EDMUNDSTON (GNB) – The government is supporting Republik Nature – the co-operative that manages Centre plein air Mont Farlagne and Madawaska Trails – in modernizing its facilities.

“Upgrades to the infrastructure and equipment are essential for Republik Nature to continue to grow and diversify its activities,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Gilles LePage, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “This investment helps maximize the region's tourism and economic potential, both in summer and winter, for both residents and visitors to the region.”

The next phase of modernization includes the replacement of the ski lift gearbox, which is a key piece of infrastructure for continuing winter activities and diversifying recreational offerings.

The provincial government, through the Regional Development Corporation, is providing $257,000 for the project, while the City of Edmundston is contributing $114,000.

“Republik Nature plays a central role in Edmundston’s tourism development and quality of life for our residents,” said Mayor Eric Marquis. “This investment ensures that Mont Farlagne and the Madawaska Trails remain attractive, competitive and accessible year-round, while generating important economic benefits for our community.”

Previous improvements focused on developing and diversifying mountain bike trails and improving the experience for enthusiasts of the sport.

“This investment represents a significant step forward in our vision of building a true four-season destination for our region,” said Republik Nature president Marc Nadeau. “Replacing the ski lift gearbox is not just about maintaining infrastructure; it is about securing the reliability of our winter operations while continuing to expand opportunities year-round. We are grateful for the support of the province and the City of Edmundston, whose partnership allows Republik Nature to grow sustainably and contribute meaningfully to the region’s economic vitality.”
