FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers at high risk of severe COVID-19 illness are eligible for a second dose of the most recent COVID-19 vaccine beginning April 7.
Public Health’s recommendations for its spring campaign align with guidance from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization.
Those eligible for this dose include:
The second-dose campaign for people at increased risk will end on June 26 so as not to interfere with the 2026-27 COVID-19 vaccination campaign that begins this fall.
Public Health recommends at least three months between doses for those who are eligible to receive a second dose.
“Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you from severe illness,” said Dr. Yves Léger, chief medical officer of health. “While vaccines continue to offer strong protection, evidence shows immunity can diminish over time, particularly for older adults and those at higher risk. With COVID-19 still circulating, we encourage eligible New Brunswickers to receive their spring booster.”
Those who are eligible may begin booking appointments on March 28, either online through the provincial scheduler, by calling 1-833-437-1424 or by contacting a participating pharmacy.
People who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine during the 2025-26 respiratory illness season are still eligible to receive one dose.
