FREDERICTON (GNB) – Social Development Minister Cindy Miles issued the following statement in recognition of National Social Work Month:
During the month of March, it is important that we honour social workers and recognize the immeasurable difference they make in the lives of New Brunswickers.
Social workers are the quiet strength behind countless stories of healing, resilience and hope. They meet people where they are and walk alongside them, their families and communities during moments of vulnerability; listening without judgment, advocating with courage, and offering care with dignity and grace. Their work is not just a profession, as it is rooted in empathy, patience and an unwavering belief in the worth of every human being.
We recognize the powerful role social workers play across our province – uplifting individuals and communities, defending dignity and human rights, and transforming lives through advocacy, compassion and meaningful action.
Within the Department of Social Development, more than 600 social workers help thousands of New Brunswickers access vital services, such as long-term care and disability support. They also work to protect children and seniors from abuse and neglect, recruit and support foster parents, and advocate for people from all walks of life.
As we observe National Social Work Month, I extend my sincere appreciation to all social workers across New Brunswick. Thank you for the care, resilience and commitment you demonstrate every day in supporting New Brunswickers.
