OROMOCTO (GNB) – A new 60-bed nursing home has officially opened in Oromocto.

Maple Ridge, which is operated by Enhanced Living, is the first nursing home in the town and the latest facility in the province to join the Nursing Home Without Walls network.

“This is an important milestone for this community,” said Seniors Minister Lyne Chantal Boudreau. “For many families, having Maple Ridge here brings peace of mind – offering a warm, welcoming home and expanding the Nursing Home Without Walls program so more seniors can receive the care they need, exactly when they need it.”

Maple Ridge consists of 60 beds divided into four households, with 15 residents per household.

“Our vision has always been to create spaces where people feel supported, respected and truly at home,” said Jason Lee, CEO of Enhanced Living. “Maple Ridge reflects that commitment, combining thoughtful design, compassionate care and a vibrant environment where residents can continue to live with dignity, independence and connection.”

The Nursing Home Without Walls program aims to address specific needs of the community by offering services to older adults who wish to remain in their own homes.

“For many seniors and families, having these supports available close to home makes an incredible difference,” said Alicia Barton, the program co-ordinator at Enhanced Living. “This program allows us to meet people where they are, offering compassionate, personalized support tailored to their unique needs.”

Thirty-six nursing homes have joined the program, offering a variety of services ranging from social visits and community activities to referrals to government programs and services. Among the services to be offered by Maple Ridge are:

  • social gatherings
  • friendly visits
  • meal support
  • light housekeeping
  • help with forms, appointments and technology
  • volunteer opportunities

Since the program began in 2019, it has provided more than 140,000 services to more than 5,400 seniors. The initiative, launched in New Brunswick, continues to attract interest across Canada, with Healthcare Excellence Canada working to share it nationwide.
