FREDERICTON (GNB) – Premier Susan Holt will travel to Ottawa and Toronto next Monday, April 20, and Tuesday, April 21, to meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney and federal ministers, advancing New Brunswick's role in Canada's economic growth, defence industrial strategy and major project development.
“New Brunswick has what the world needs, and we’re working with partners across the country to unlock that potential,” said Holt. “Our focus is on making sure New Brunswick is at the centre of the major projects and defence investments that will shape our country's future.”
In meetings with the prime minister and senior cabinet ministers, Holt will press for federal partnership on major projects, defence investment, energy infrastructure and critical minerals development, as well as long-term, predictable funding for health care.
“Every conversation I have is focused on how we deliver for New Brunswickers,” said Holt.
In addition to meeting with the prime minister, Holt will meet with several federal ministers, including:
• Dominic LeBlanc, minister of internal trade and minister responsible for Canada-U.S. trade, intergovernmental affairs and one Canadian economy
• Sean Fraser, minister of justice and attorney general and minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
• David McGuinty, minister of national defence
• Marjorie Michel, minister of health
• Kelowna MP Stephen Fuhr, secretary of state for defence procurement
• Saint John-Kennebecasis MP Wayne Long, secretary of state for the Canada Revenue Agency and Financial Institutions
Holt will also join other premiers participating in the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Future of Business Summit, where she will promote New Brunswick as a key partner in building Canada’s economic future.
“We’re working alongside Canada’s premiers to build an economy that is stronger and more connected,” said Holt. “New Brunswick has a key role to play, and we’re making sure that creates real benefits for New Brunswickers.”
