FREDERICTON (GNB) – Cards advising New Brunswickers when and where to vote, as well as the elections for which they are eligible to vote, are being delivered by Canada Post this week.

Nearly 325,000 voter information cards are being sent in advance of the May 11 local government, rural district advisory committee and district education council elections. Advance voting is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, and Monday, May 4.

“We encourage voters to bring their voter information cards with them when they go to vote, as this will ensure faster service,” said Kim Poffenroth, chief electoral officer. “Each card contains a unique bar code that helps polling staff quickly find the elector’s name on the voters list, strike them off, and send them on their way to get a ballot.”

Eligible voters who do not receive a card, or who do not bring it to the polling station, will be directed to another team at each station; that team will check the voters list to find the person, or add the person to the list, if necessary.

People can also find voting information for their area by visiting the Elections New Brunswick website. By typing their address into the Where Do I Vote? search engine, voters can quickly find the location of their local polling stations and the list of candidates in their polling division.
