FREDERICTON (GNB) – Advance voting for the May 11 local government, rural district advisory committee and district education council elections takes place this Saturday, May 2. A second day of advance voting is scheduled for Monday, May 4.
Polls are open both days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“Any eligible voter who wishes to cast their vote early to avoid potential lineups on election day can do so at these advance polls,” said Kim Poffenroth, chief electoral officer. “To make the process run even smoother, we encourage electors to bring their voter information cards with them when they go to the polls.”
People also have the option of voting by a special ballot, which is available at the 18 returning offices around the province, six days a week, up to and including election day.
Those not on the voters list can still vote but will be required to show identification to be added to the list.
“These voting options provide greater flexibility to individuals to choose the opportunity to vote that is most convenient for them,” said Poffenroth.
The locations of advance and regular polling stations are shown on voter information cards and the Elections New Brunswick website or can be obtained by calling 1-888-858-VOTE (8683).
