MEMRAMCOOK (GNB) – A $1.1-million government investment has expanded the local collaborative care clinic and access to primary care in Memramcook.
The funding has allowed for an expansion of the clinic’s space and the addition of a phlebotomist and a licensed practical nurse.
“People in Memramcook deserve to be able to get the care they need close to home,” said Premier Susan Holt. “This investment means more patients can access services in their own community, with more health-care professionals working together under one roof. That makes it easier for people and families to get the care they need, when they need it, without having to travel farther from home. We’re continuing to build these teams because this is how we improve access to primary care for more New Brunswickers.”
Besides these newly added positions, the clinic team includes three primary care providers, a registered nurse, a social worker and two administrative assistants.
The team currently cares for about 3,700 patients, including 123 people who have been connected to a provider from the NB Health Link wait-list since February 2024.
There are plans to continue building the clinic team, with efforts underway to recruit another physician. This growth is expected to improve access to primary care, take remaining patients from the local NB Health Link wait-list and support patients on the wait-list in neighbouring communities.
“Good health care starts in our communities,” said Health Minister John Dornan. “This investment will help more patients and families access services closer to home, reducing the need to travel and making care more convenient. It also ensures the clinic can continue to grow and respond to the needs of the people it serves.”
Primary care is one of six priority areas outlined in the provincial health plan.
The government announced 11 collaborative care clinics in 2025 and continues to expand the model in 2026. The Memramcook clinic is the 17th collaborative care clinic announced by the government.
Vitalité Health Network continues to partner with health-care providers and communities to bring team-based care to more people across the province. The services and care team at each collaborative care clinic are tailored to the needs of the local community.
“We are pleased to see this team continue to grow,” said Dr. France Desrosiers, president and CEO of Vitalité Health Network. “The renovated space will allow it to welcome new health-care professionals, offer additional services and better meet the needs of residents of Memramcook and surrounding communities.”
