FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement was issued by Seniors Minister Lyne Chantal Boudreau to highlight the launch of the first Seniors’ Week in New Brunswick, Sept. 27 to Oct. 3:
In New Brunswick, we are proud to celebrate our valued seniors. Their contribution to our communities and heritage is priceless. Their knowledge and experiences enrich our society and will inspire generations to come.
Seniors’ Week will now be celebrated in New Brunswick annually to recognize the invaluable contributions of seniors, and will coincide with National Seniors Day, on Oct. 1. This will be an opportunity to shine a light on their vital role in our families and communities.
Seniors deserve to live with respect, dignity and compassion. It is important that they remain active, connected and engaged wherever they live. Seniors' Week was created to promote active aging and help seniors flourish, while reminding us of our collective responsibility to ensure their well-being.
On behalf of the provincial government, I encourage all New Brunswickers to honour and express their appreciation for seniors, not only during this special week, but throughout the year. I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone who dedicates their time to caring for our seniors. Your compassion, support and commitment are essential and greatly appreciated.
Together, let’s continue to build a province where generations support each other, and where our seniors are welcomed, respected and valued.
