Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation

What we do  

The Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation was created to develop, oversee, coordinate and implement initiatives to reduce poverty and assist thousands of New Brunswickers to become more self-sufficient.

The co-chairs and president are members of a board of directors representing government, business, community non-profit organizations, and persons having experienced poverty.

Responsibilities

  • To lead the implementation and evaluation of the Provincial Plan and the development and adoption of other Economic and Social Inclusion Plans,
  • To coordinate and support community inclusion networks in the development of their local plans and in the implementation of the objectives of the Provincial Plan set ou in their local plans,
  • To manage the Economic and Social Inclusion Fund established under section 29 of the Economic and Social Inclusion Act,
  • To measure progress and update dashboards.

Priorities

  • Basic Needs and Wellbeing (food security, transportation, child care, housing, health, and prescription drug coverage awareness),
  • Income Security (connecting people to benefits, financial literacy, working conditions for workers with a low income, individuals living with disabilities, asset exemption thresholds, and advisory committee on income security),
  • Strengthening People-Focused Service Delivery (reducing barriers to better connect, sensitization training, aging out of care, and supporting the non-profit sector).
