What we do  

Finance and Treasury Board is responsible for managing a broad range of functions and services. We coordinate and develop the annual budget and public accounts, and ensure the fair, effective and efficient administration of tax and regulatory programs. We are also responsible for human resources, collective bargaining, information technology and security, as well as managing relationships with other government agencies. We provide analysis and advice on taxation and fiscal policy and the economy. We work closely with departments and organizations to ensure effective financial governance and strategic planning for the province.  

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the preparation of capital estimates, main estimates and the budget speech.  
  • Providing financial results, quarterly reports and conducting performance audits.   
  • Collaborating with government departments and agencies on financial matters, human resources, risk, technology and information.  
  • Providing strategic direction and oversight of the policy, program and accountability framework for the recruitment, compensation, retention, development, safety, health and management of GNB’s human resources.  
  • Leading collective bargaining in Parts I, II and III of the Public Service. 
  • Providing strategic leadership, planning and oversight of the management of information, telecommunications, technology, risk, and digital innovation to enable the business of a smarter government.
