What we do
The New Brunswick Housing Corporation is responsible for creating the conditions for safe, affordable and accessible housing for all New Brunswickers. We build, maintain and operate provincially owned housing, develop and deliver housing programs and initiatives, and provide residential tenancy services. We work with all levels of government and stakeholder groups, including not-for profit organizations, educational institutes, and the private sector, to improve housing options for all New Brunswickers.
Responsibilities
- Collaboratively leading the implementation, evaluation and evolution of a housing strategy.
- Building, maintaining and operating public and rural and indigenous housing.
- Developing and delivering subsidized housing programs including the administration of leasing agreements with private and non-profit partners.
- Regulating and enforcing The Residential Tenancies Act, including holding in trust all security deposits.
- Investigating and resolving tenant and Landlord disputes and complaints by mediation or adjudication.
Priorities
- Build a strong foundation to address our housing demands.
- Support the construction of 30,000 new homes by 2030.
- Stop the degradation of public housing and invest in both the renovation and creation of new public housing.
- Work with companies to increase investments in made-in New Brunswick solutions like modular and offsite housing.
- Work directly with municipalities and community groups already grounded in a housing-first approach and support their expansion.
- Ensure New Brunswickers have access to safe, affordable and appropriate housing for themselves and their families.
- Making strategic investments in New Brunswick's economy.
- Help low-income New Brunswickers stay in their current housing.
- Incentivize the creation of new student housing units.
- Increase housing options for seniors and those with accessibility needs.
