Intergovernmental Affairs

The Department of Intergovernmental Affairs is responsible for providing a strategic approach to New Brunswick’s relationships with other governments, communities and organizations. We are also responsible for Canadian and international relations, trade policy and agreements and protocol. We work in partnership with other provincial agencies, departments and with New Brunswick stakeholders to collaborate on societal goals.

• Facilitating coordination of international activities to focus efforts on strategic interests.
• Coordinating and promoting New Brunswick's activities within the provincial, Canadian and international Francophonie.
• Coordinating New Brunswick’s relationships with the federal government, Canada’s provinces and territories and our partnerships with U.S. states.
• Managing agreements governing trade within Canada and internationally.
• Facilitating regional co-operation to address social and economic priorities.

• Promote mutually beneficial interprovincial relations.
• Promote regional cooperation in Atlantic Canada as a strategic approach to achieving the social economic priorities of New Brunswick.
• Protect New Brunswick’s interests in the United States by strengthening partnerships.
• Strengthen New Brunswick’s international relationships through strategic collaboration with global partners.
