Overview
The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization (NB EMO) manages all provincial training programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of emergency responders. It develops, coordinates and offers various courses and educational opportunities across the province through Regional Emergency Management Coordinators (REMCs). These trainings also cover the roles and responsibilities of government and non-governmental agencies during emergencies.
All emergency management partners and stakeholders are encouraged to start with the basic courses to participate in future events. Advanced and specialized courses are available as needed. Here are the current offerings:
- Basic Emergency Management – an online, self-paced course offering a broad overview of planning and operations during emergencies.
- Incident Command System 100 – an online, self-study introductory course designed for personnel assigned to an incident or event.
- Emergency Operations Centre – an advance level course with a prerequisite of basic courses, designed to prepare planners and officials to operate effectively in an Emergency Operations Centre.
- Emergency Public Information - an advance level course with a prerequisite of basic courses focusing on media relations and performance during a crisis.
